The Department is located on one of the best known streets in Berlin, “Oranienburg Strasse”. Under the dome of the old post office, Roman architecture and the surrounding atmosphere combine to present one of the most splendid historical buildings in Berlin and one of the costliest bureaucratic buildings of its day.

The building, which was built between 1875 and 1881, is now protected as a historical monument. The three floor corner building and the impressive eight-sided dome make it stand out. Once, the major hall with its coffered ceiling was found under the dome of the imperial structure. For many years the biaxial building served as post office. In the last years, however, the focus in the legendary dome hall has lain less on letters and packages and more on culinary arts, good music and splendid celebrations. The Department is the perfect symbiosis of Berlin charm and an exclusive event venue providing an extraordinary ambience for various events.
